Egypt Will Always Be Calling

In life we are all faced with decisions.

--Do I take this new job

--Do I ask this person on a date

--Do I purchase this car

--Do I talk to my spouse about a deep hurt from my past?

Some decisions are easy for us to make and some cause much thought and deliberation. For all of us there are certain pivotal and key decisions that we make in life that have the power to change the trajectory of our journey. They are the decisions that can keep you up at night with your mind weighing all the different scenarios and factors. Yet once you take courage and move forward in what God called you to do, you may have a tendency to look back and question whether you made the right decision. The old “what if” scenario or "buyers remorse."

Children of God….I want to encourage you today.

Once you boldly move forward into the things of God, Egypt will always be calling you back.

When Egypt is calling it is important to distinguish between your Spirit and your flesh. Your flesh is always going to feed on our feelings. While the Spirit is always going to feed on the truth and the promises of God. God is a God of order and He will always reveal His truth and His plan.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9

God has a track record of speaking to his children and letting us know His plan. We hear a word and we get such a sense of peace of what decision He is asking us to make. We resolve in our Spirit that we are going to follow His truth and be courageous. Then a week passes by after we move forward and our thoughts and peoples voices all weigh in and we start to doubt or question whether God really confirmed what He asked us to do.

How many times did Noah get his assignment to build the ark? The Bible only records Noah’s assignment once and yet Noah stayed focused on his assignment. He must have heard a lot of noise during all the years he was building the ark with no rain. I wonder if we can’t learn from Noah and get an assignment from God once about the call on our life and, despite Egypt calling us back, can we stay the course?

“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.” Isaiah 31:1.

So heed this scripture and don’t “go down to Egypt for help.” Egypt symbolizes a place of captivity. Why would you look back there for your help? "Look to the Holy One" and "seek help from the Lord."

Once you get your marching orders don’t look back and don’t entertain the “what if’s.” Remember what happened to Lot’s wife when she looked back (Genesis 19:26).
